Mirupafshim, Shadows of Voices In winter '78 my family, after has been split for years between Kosovo and Albania because of the closing of borderlines, had the opportunity to meet in Tirana, at my parents' place.
The meeting was recorded on an old spool tape used to immortalise that one-time event. After almost 30 years, I retrieved that tape, and found a long series of formal greetings ("Mirupafshim" means Goodbye), pleasantry (for someone was the first meeting in their lives), retained feelings, clashing contradictions (voices singing the praises of the same system responsible of their separation), ghosts that come back to life once again, empty rooms in which shadows of voices are stretching out.

Mirupafshim, Ombre di Voci Nell'inverno '78 la mia famiglia, rimasta divisa per anni tra Kosovo e Albania a causa della chiusura dei confini, ebbe l'opportunità di riunirsi a Tirana, nella casa dei miei genitori. L'incontro è stato documentato da un vecchio registratore audio a bobine, usato in quei giorni per immortalare l'irripetibile evento. A quasi trent'anni di distanza, ho riesumato quelle registrazioni, ritrovandoci una lunga sequela di saluti formali ("Mirupafshim" significa Arrivederci), convenevoli (qualcuno si incontrava per la prima volta), sentimenti trattenuti, stridenti contraddizioni (le canzoni inneggianti al sistema responsabile di quella stessa separazione), spiriti che riprendono vita ogni volta, stanze vuote dove si allungano fantomatiche ombre di voci. Ma soprattutto vi ho ritrovato una grande carica umana e poetica, in grado di superare i confini dell'esperienza personale per assumere i contorni di una piccola storia di carattere universale dalla quale trae origine il progetto.
